Memorial Day in the United States is a time to remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the United States Armed Forces. It is a quintessentially American holiday and it also marks the start of the summer season. All of this patriotism got me thinking about what it means when we talk about the American Dream, the fundamental concept that’s at the heart of all of this celebrating and remembrance. Nearly 50 years ago, chemist and cosmetologist Mario Badescu came to this country from his native Romania. In 1967, he opened his Manhattan skin care salon and started work on the signature skin care line that we still use today. Eventually he was working with the biggest celebrities and socialites of his time. This story is the American Dream at its finest. We’re proud to say that our Skin Care Salon has since become a New York institution. Our product line has expanded since those days but has at its core the gentle and effective botanical formulas first created by Mario Badescu.
