Aging
Aging skin is characterized by poor elasticity and the accentuation of lines
and wrinkles due to reduced oil gland activity. There are primarily two
categories of aging skin: intrinsic and extrinsic. The former refers to
chronological aging, for which little can be done. Extrinsic aging,
however, refers to aging due to external factors such as sun, stress, and
certain lifestyle choices.
Reversing the Aging Process
Though reversing the aging process is not possible, preventing and protecting
skin from the early appearance of fine lines and wrinkles can be achieved
through proper skin care. One can also reduce the appearance of existing

Photoaging Skin
UV exposure damages and destroys cellular reproductive abilities as well as
deteriorates the skin’s natural collagen reserves. Naturally, sun protection
is the first line of treatment for extrinsically aged skin in order to prevent further damage.

To help improve the appearance and condition of extrinsically aging skin, products
containing Vitamin A and its derivatives, and alpha-hydroxy acids can help
restore moisture, normalize skin functions, and help regenerate collagen.

What is Collagen
Collagen is a fundamental protein in the composition of the skin. It plays a

weakens and the skin loses its firmness and becomes less able to retain moisture.
The breakdown of collagen contributes to wrinkling and creates the appearance of
sagging skin.
Topical application of products containing collagen will make fine lines and
