Couperose Skin
Couperose is a condition where redness appears due to the presence of small,
dilated red blood vessels visible on the face. Couperose occurs due to poor
elasticity of the capillary walls.

What is Couperose Skin?
Normally, when there is a sudden rush of blood to the skin, capillaries
expand to receive the increase of blood, then contract and return to
normalcy. In a weakened state of elasticity, however, capillaries will
expand, but do not contract and return to their normal state. This results
in dilated capillaries with lingering blood cells, making them appear
defined and red on the skin’s surface.
Couperose skin can be aggravated by excessive use of hot and cold water on
skin, blushing, alcohol, cigarettes, hot and spicy foods, and
sun; anything that causes blood to rush to the face.

How Do I Treat Couperose Skin?
Though someone has couperose skin, their skin types can still vary between dry,
combination, and oily. When selecting products, it is important to keep
your skin type in mind.

Those with couperose skin should avoid washing the face with extremely
cold or hot water. Use skin care products that will strengthen capillary walls,
such as our Keratoplast Cream Soap
or the Keratoplast Cleansing Lotion.
These products are good for combination/dry skin types, as they are mild and
fortified with the botanical extract keratoplast. |

Keratoplast can also be found in our daily moisturizers. The

is a soothing moisturizer with the anti-inflammatory properties of oatmeal
and hydrating properties of Pentavitin. For the colder winter seasons,
shield delicate skin with the Kera Moist-Cream. This rich protective cream
will seal in hydration and moisture while fortifying skin with keratoplast.

Also, products that reduce redness and calm skin are beneficial. The Azulene
Calming Mask contains Azulene, a Chamomile extract, to soothe and calm redness
on the skin. The clay-based formula is also gently cleansing to pores.
